How we want you to record your on show...

We expect you to be able to record your own radio show. Help and advice will be given to aspiring hosts - technical advice and “how-to’s.” If you are not technologically minded and you want to have a professional sounding show, then we recommend that you have a word with Allan Smyth at Creao Studio. We do not have a central studio - we are not in a position to rent one because we are community funded.

Radio is a good hobby and it could be worth the small outlay to get your own Microphone. I could wax lyrical about the latest external soundcards but all you really need is a computer with a microphone (some have them in-built) and software to record your show on to. The Station can supply the software.

See, we have a license for a Desktop Audio Workstation called Reaper. It is pretty straight forward to use and if you get stuck, there are tutorial channels online, on YouTube.

If you want to push the boat out, the mic we recommend is the AKG Lyra USB Mic.

We offer a basic mastering of your show so that the levels are continuous through the broadcast schedule. Once the pandemic has died down, we can meet up and I will teach you how to record your show; we will cover it in half an hour...

If you want to play music on your show then you will need to have a copy of the music on your hard drive. Spotify is not really what is needed - you need MP3 files so you can import them in to Reaper (or your chosen Audio Workstation).

But, above all else, please remember, we are after passion, not perfection.
